Development Field Trips for Filmmakers

The Eastern Oregon Film Festival (EOFF) is proud to announce its Production Development Field Trip program, launching in late spring and summer of 2025. This initiative is designed to foster creative exploration, build meaningful connections, and highlight La Grande, Oregon, as a vibrant location for independent film production.

Deadlines:

  • For a Spring visit, please submit application prior to April 1.
  • For a Summer visit, please submit application prior to May. 1.
  • For a Late Summer Early Autumn visit, please submit application no later than July 1.

Objective

The Production Development Field Trip provides teams of filmmakers with the opportunity to evaluate the feasibility of producing their projects in Eastern Oregon. Participants will immerse themselves in the local environment, connect with community members, and explore resources essential for production, with the intention of bringing a film production to Union County, Oregon.

Program Details

  • Who: Selected filmmakers or small creative teams (1-3 individuals, preferably a team of director and producers).
  • What: An all expenses covered 4-7 day exploratory visit to La Grande, Oregon.
  • When: Late spring and summer of 2025.
  • Where: La Grande and surrounding areas in Eastern Oregon.
  • Why: To offer filmmakers the tools and connections needed to assess Eastern Oregon as a potential setting for their films, in both creative and practical terms, ultimately enriching the local economy and creative landscape.

Activities

  • Location scouting in La Grande and neighboring areas.
  • Networking opportunities with local professionals, including artists, vendors, and city representatives.
  • Learning about resources for funding and in-kind support that make this a viable region for independent film.
  • Exploration of local culture and resources that can enhance film production.
  • Workshops and panels focused on independent filmmaking in rural areas.
  • Consultations with Oregon Film, Seasoned Producers & Filmmaker Alum.

Outcomes

  • Filmmakers gain insight into the practical and creative benefits of working in La Grande.
  • EOFF strengthens its role as a hub for creative development in Eastern Oregon.
  • The local community benefits from increased visibility and potential economic growth through film projects
  • Equip teams with cash funds of up to $5000 to be used for your production along with numerous forms of in-kind support to help you produce your project

Support and Collaboration

EOFF will provide logistical support, including accommodations, curated itineraries, and connections with local stakeholders. The program seeks to inspire new film productions and nurture relationships between filmmakers and the Eastern Oregon community.
