The Eastern Oregon Film Festival (EOFF) is excited to introduce a new initiative: the Production Development Field Trip, launching in late spring and summer of 2025. This program is designed to provide filmmakers with the opportunity to explore La Grande, Oregon, as a potential setting for their next project, while fostering connections with local industry professionals, community members, and resources that can support independent film production. Playing from the successes and learning from our two Filmmaker Residencies, EOFF strives to connect filmmakers with the rich opportunity The Grande Ronde Valley has to offer.
About the Program
The Production Development Field Trip invites filmmakers or small creative teams (1-3 individuals, ideally a director and producers or keys like DP…) to participate in a fully funded, 4-7 day exploratory visit to La Grande and surrounding areas in Eastern Oregon. The goal is to equip filmmakers with the insights, connections, and resources needed to assess the feasibility of producing their films in the region.
Why Eastern Oregon?
With its diverse landscapes, welcoming community, and growing film infrastructure, Eastern Oregon is a compelling location for independent productions. Through this program, EOFF aims to strengthen La Grande’s reputation as a hub for creative development, film production, and artistic collaboration.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Scout locations in La Grande and nearby areas.
- Engage in networking sessions with local artists, vendors, and city representatives.
- Gain insight into funding opportunities and in-kind support available for productions in the region.
- Attend workshops and panels focused on independent filmmaking in rural settings.
- Consult with experienced producers, Oregon Film representatives, and filmmaker alumni.
Funding & Support
In addition to covering travel and accommodations, EOFF will provide selected participants with up to $5,000 in production funds, as well as various in-kind support to help bring their projects to life.
This initiative is made possible with support from HQ, Oregon Made Creative Foundation, Oregon Film, and Eastern Oregon University.
